Supporting the Delivery of the Velindre @ Nevill Hall Radiotherapy Unit

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Velindre @ Nevill Hall Hospital Radiotherapy Unit was officially opened by Jeremy Miles MS, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care.

The new £38 million facility represents a major milestone for cancer services in Wales. As an extension of the main Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff, the Abergavenny-based unit aims to bring life-saving treatment closer to home for patients across South East Wales and Powys, reducing the need for lengthy travel during what can already be an extremely challenging time.

The facility, which began treating its first patients in June 2025, includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy technology, modern treatment spaces and supportive care areas designed to enhance patient experience and comfort.

DRAC Consulting was proud to support this landmark development through our NEC Supervisor services, helping ensure that quality, compliance and safety were upheld throughout the construction process. Working closely with the project team, we oversaw the delivery to ensure that design intent and standards were maintained at every stage.

This project reflects the shared commitment of NHS Wales and its partners to improve access to world-class cancer care and invest in sustainable, patient-focused healthcare infrastructure across the region.

At DRAC, we’re proud to have played a role in delivering a facility that will make a real difference to patients and families across Wales.
